Despite all our efforts, Inwoods Small School can no longer continue its operations beyond this academic year.

In the post-COVID period, the school grew from three students to twenty-two in a short space of time and benefited from a stable, highly qualified staff body, happy children and supportive parents. However, the imposition of VAT on private education by the government, increased property prices in the area that have locked young families out, rising living costs, an overall national decline in the number of primary school pupils—particularly in Hampshire—and the availability of other attractive alternative educational options for parents, mean that there is no longer sufficient demand for our small school.

During this time, the school has offered a nature-based, project-led, holistic education. We have prioritised real relationships over the traditional academic pressures and competition that so often define mainstream educational settings. We have been fortunate to share time and beautiful spaces with many children and parents over the years. Everyone involved—educators, parents, and children alike—has valued the opportunities that Inwoods provided.
